Job summary

Redwire Defense Tech in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and integration for avionics, power, and sensors in UAS platforms.

The role requires owning subsystem deliverables, guiding design reviews, and mentoring junior engineers in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Applicants should have 4–7 years of hands-on experience in electrical hardware, with Altium and signal integrity expertise, and a strong focus on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 4–7 years hands-on electrical, avionics, or embedded hardware design experience.
• Experience owning subsystem design from concept to validation.
• Experience with prototype builds, HIL/SIL, and/or flight tests.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and Altium Designer (preferred).
• Strong wiring harness, signal routing, shielding, EMI/EMC knowledge.
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analysis tools.
• Knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, RS-422/485, UART protocols.
• Understanding of power electronics and battery/ESD protection.
• Familiar with aerospace cable assemblies and MIL-SPEC connectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical subsystem design and integration for avionics, sensors, payloads, and power systems.
• Develop wiring harness architecture, schematics, PCB requirements, and interfaces.
• Perform advanced electrical analyses: FMEA, power budgeting, SI, grounding.
• Drive system integration with mechanical, software, GNC, test, and production teams.
• Lead root-cause analysis for electrical/avionics issues in lab, production, or flight tests.
• Support flight test activities including instrumentation and data collection.
• Lead formal design reviews (PDR, CDR) to ensure quality and reliability.
• Provide mentorship and technical oversight for junior engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality to ensure manufacturability.
• Contribute to engineering processes, guidelines, and standards.
• Balance multiple priorities with technical depth and project delivery.
