Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Staff Aeronautical Engineer- Test & Evaluation to join a team focused on advancing test & evaluation for hardware and software. The role centers on MBSE-driven engineering, system test planning, and collaboration with software and systems teams to translate mission needs into robust architectures.

The position is located in Rancho Bernardo, CA with an optional alternate site in Palmdale, CA and requires on-site work with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in STEM plus 12 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in systems.
Master's degree with 10 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in systems.
Ph.D. with 8 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in systems.
Active US Secret Government clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs following commencement of employment to be able to completely support statement of work.
Experience as a Work Package Manager or Cost Account Manager (CAM), including maintaining work packages / name runs, IMS status / dates, CAM relevant forms (EVCRs, EACs, VARs, etc)

Responsibilities

Lead Test Engineer for multiple small scope efforts.
Assist with System Test Management Plan development.
In depth understanding of the Test & Evaluation lifecycle for hardware/software integration and testing, and ability to lead design efforts, design test & evaluation, and/or transition designs into production.
Collaborate with MBSE team to develop architecture diagrams and products.
Collaborate with software and systems engineers, and program leadership to capture mission needs and develop architecture products.
Allocate requirements among elements of an integrated aerospace system.
Ensure successful integration of new hardware and software in a lab test environment.
Lead the test SME across efforts, coordinating testing across areas and communicating status.
Work on-site full-time at the facility; travel up to 25% may be required.
