Job summary

Caterpillar in Irving, TX is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy software for robotic, automated, and safety‑critical machines. You’ll work on perception, autonomy, safety systems, and build pipelines, bringing AI and new technology to real world machines.

You will lead with clear communication, mentor peers, and manage multiple priorities while solving complex engineering problems in embedded, real‑time, and OS/web environments.

Qualifications

• Degree required in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
• Experience with embedded, real-time systems and safety-critical software is preferred.
• Experience with design reviews and system architecture is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and release software for robotic, automated, and safety-critical machines, and then watch it run in the real world.
• Prove it works. Dig into test reviews and analysis, witness tests in person, and help get software certified.
• Build and tune the build, integration, and release pipelines that turn 'it works on my machine' into 'it works on every machine.'
• Help develop operator and machine safety systems that protect people and equipment on the job site.
• Bring fresh ideas and new technology, including AI, to make our software smarter and more capable.
• Solve the puzzles that come up when new software meets existing machines, infrastructure, and products.
