Job summary

Optum Insight in the United States is seeking a Subject Matter Expert in Acute Coding to design and deliver onboarding education for new hires within the Middle Revenue Cycle Coding Services team. This full-time, remote role requires developing and delivering standardized training materials and guiding ongoing education aligned with coding guidelines and audits.

The position supports professional development, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with leaders to improve learning outcomes

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Certification in acute coding through AHIMA or AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, CPC, CCS-P) preferred.
3+ years acute coding experience in a hospital or health-system.
Knowledge of ICD-10-PCS and coding conventions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel up to 10% and work standard business hours.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver standardized onboarding education for new hires in Middle Revenue Cycle Coding Services.
Create educational materials and coding aids for formal training and daily use.
Guide and support audits, continuing education, and client coding guidelines.
Build and implement education strategies to improve audit scores and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with SMEs and leadership to develop curricula and learning objectives.
