Job summary

Optum360 is seeking a Coding Subject Matter Expert to oversee facility-based and HIM coding operations within the assigned region. You will drive standardization, quality metrics, audits, and client-facing collaborations to meet SLAs and improve reimbursement accuracy.

The role emphasizes leadership, education, and continuous quality improvements across domestic sites, with a focus on DRG/inpatient coding and collaboration with CDI teams. Remote work from anywhere in the U.S. is supported.

Qualifications

• ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding experience or certification.
• 4+ years in a corporate coding leadership role in large multi-site healthcare orgs.
• 4+ years DRG or inpatient coding experience.
• 4+ years partnering with CDI and Quality leadership to improve reimbursement and coding accuracy.
• 4+ years with computer-assisted coding technologies and EMR workflows.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Optum360 Coding departments within the assigned region and ensure best practices.
• Lead standardization, workflow improvements, and metric development across facilities.
• Manage client-facing meetings with Quality Teams, CDI, and related accounts.
• Drive coding quality improvements, audits, and corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with HIM, CDI, Client, and Coding Operations to monitor daily coding operations.
• Lead monthly facility-wide educational sessions on coding topics.
