UnitedHealth Group's Optum360 coding leadership seeks a Senior Coding SME to oversee facility-based coding operations and drive quality, audits, and standardization across sites in the U.S.
The role partners with CDI, QA, HIM, and clients to improve reimbursement, accuracy, and SLAs, leads education sessions, and develops action plans to address error trends while maintaining strong client relationships. Remote work within the U.S. is supported.
Qualifications
- ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding experience and/or certification.
- 4+ years in a corporate coding leadership role supporting large multi-site health systems.
- 4+ years of recent DRG or inpatient coding experience.
- 4+ years partnering with CDI and Quality leadership to improve reimbursement and accuracy.
- 4+ years experience with computer-assisted coding technologies and EMR workflows.
Responsibilities
- Oversee facility-based coding operations and standardization across sites.
- Lead quality assurance, audits, and action plans for ongoing improvements.
- Collaborate with HIM, CDI, and client teams to review prebill and postbill work.
- Drive KPI improvement and reduce waste while maintaining service levels.
- Lead educational sessions and coaching to address recurring error trends.
- Maintain strong client relationships and represent Optum360 values.
