Job summary

Sunset Senior Living Quincy seeks an Activity Aide to assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational and social programs for residents. You will work under the Life Enrichment Coordinator to support assessment-based care plans and engage residents in meaningful activities.

• Must read, write and speak English clearly.
• Able to make independent decisions when required.
• Able to interact tactfully with residents, families and staff.
• Patient, cheerful and enthusiastic when engaging elderly residents.
• Work harmoniously with other personnel and volunteers.
• Willing to learn new methods and apply them in practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide monthly activity calendar to each resident.
• Visit new residents and obtain an activity assessment within three days of arrival.
• Transfer resident’s voter registration as requested by resident.
• Provide written care plans on assigned units quarterly; enter interviews into the computer.
• Document quarterly progress notes on residents' charts in health care units.
• Plan and run small activity groups and remotivation sessions weekly.
• Encourage hobbies and crafts; provide materials; supplement Restorative Program as needed.
• Conduct group activities across the facility weekly/monthly (e.g., bingo, crafts, cooking, reminiscence, sing-a-long, events).
• Make room visits and assist with crafts and one-on-one activities as needed.
• Conduct sensory groups three times per week for diversification of stimulation.
• Assist in recruiting, training and supervising volunteers; manage schedules and safety.
• Recommend supply needs to Life Enrichment Coordinator.
• Supervise residents during community outings and trips.
• Purchase supplies and deliver mail/newspapers to residents.
• Willingly perform other duties as assigned by Life Enrichment Coordinator.
