Job summary

HarborChase of Olney in Maryland is seeking an Activity Assistant to plan, coordinate, and run community activities for residents. You'll work weekdays and alternating weekends, help create monthly calendars and newsletters, and encourage participation while supporting each resident’s independence.

You will assist with supplies, attend outings when needed, maintain tracking charts, and help ensure safety and privacy for residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Background in art, music, drama, or occupational therapy preferred.
• Effective communication with management, associates, residents, family and outside contacts.
• One-year experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Dementia preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and run all community activities.
• Assist with planning the monthly activities calendar and monthly newsletter (if necessary).
• Encourage residents to participate in community activities, assisting them to attend, while supporting the resident’s independence.
• Help with ordering supplies and equipment for regular activities.
• May attend outings off-site and ensure safe, meaningful trips for residents.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the DLE.
• Maintain the Activity Participation Tracking Chart.
