Job summary

Forbes is seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist for a three-month assignment with potential extension. This remote role favors candidates in the New York/New Jersey area, but may be open to qualified applicants nationwide within the U.S.

The ideal candidate will independently own daily AP workflows, process invoices and expense reports, and ensure timely payments while upholding internal controls. Strong Excel and ERP experience are required; Concur and Carta AP experience are desirable.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of progressive accounts payable or related accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger coding, accruals, reconciliations, internal controls, and the impact of AP on financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables and lookups; proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily AP priorities across invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment preparation.
• Process and review invoices and Concur expense reports for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Investigate discrepancies, duplicate payments, and vendor disputes; propose actionable solutions.
• Review AP aging and support month-end close with reconciliations and accruals.
• Prepare domestic and international wire/ACH payments per approvals and controls.
• Coordinate vendor onboarding, maintain vendor data, and support 1099 reporting.
• Serve as a reliable point of contact for employees, vendors, and Finance colleagues.
• Identify workflow improvements using ERP reports and Excel improvements.
