Job summary

Conexus, a publicly traded biotechnology company, seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting activities across contracts and balance sheet/income statement accounts. You will own the month-end close, perform financial analysis, and strengthen internal controls in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and able to collaborate cross-functionally across the organization. Prior experience with SOX and audits is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 6+ years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting best practices.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to explain fluctuations.
• Experience supporting internal controls, compliance, and audit processes.
• Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close activities with timely, accurate reporting under U.S. GAAP.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and reports for cash, prepaids, accruals, leases, and related accounts.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement variances with clear explanations.
• Review monthly expenses and contract listings for accuracy and completeness.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to assure financial results integrity.
• Support SOX compliance and internal controls across accounting operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and control strength.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and address deficiencies as needed.
• Support asset protection, risk management and fraud prevention controls.
• Mentor and train team members on accounting processes and initiatives.
