Qualifications

• Public accounting background with general ledger experience.

• Experience with clinical accrual accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close with minimal supervision and prepare journal entries.
• Prepare accrual journal entries, including clinical trial accruals.
• Assist in monthly financial statement preparation.
• Collaborate with Staff Accountant on AP and PO processes.
• Support SOX readiness, including documentation and testing coordination.
• Contribute to inventory accounting and GTN analysis where applicable.
• Partner with FP&A and operations to ensure accurate accounting.
• Assist with external audit requests and schedules.
• Identify process improvements as the company scales.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing commercial biotech finance team. This role will be a significant contributor to the month-end close process working with a high degree of autonomy under the guidance of the Controller while collaborating closely with a Staff Accountant on AP and PO processes. This position will report to the Controller. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong public accounting foundation who is looking to deepen their industry experience and grow into a role with increasing scope.

Responsibilities:

• Play a significant role in the month-end close process, with minimal supervision, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Prepare and review accrual journal entries, including clinical trial/R&D accruals
• Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements
• Work closely with the Staff Accountant to ensure the AP and PO process runs smoothly and accurately
• Support SOX readiness compliance, including documentation, testing coordination, and control execution
• Apply and build on a foundational understanding of more advanced/technical accounting topics (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, stock comp) as needed
• Contribute to inventory accounting and revenue Gross-to-Net (GTN) analysis, where applicable
• Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Clinical Operations, and other departments to ensure accurate and timely accounting
• Assist with external audit requests and schedules
• Identify and help implement process improvements as the company scales
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a virtual environment
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to flexibly adapt to changing business needs and meet timelines
• Ability to prioritize and drive open items to completion
• Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience (audit or assurance) required
• Strong foundational accounting knowledge (US GAAP); working knowledge of clinical accrual accounting a plus
• Experience with SOX and internal control environments
• Advanced Excel skills (or equivalent);
• Experience with NetSuite a plus
• Experience with Concur a plus
• Biotech/pharma or life sciences industry experience a plus
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; comfortable working independently
• Self-starter with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
