Job summary

Synchron, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong public accounting background to support month-end and year-end closes. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting.
• Big 4 accounting firm experience strongly preferred.
• Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other highly regulated industry experience preferred.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Strong understanding of account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement analysis.
• Willingness to work hands-on across payroll, AP, expense reporting.
• Ability to work onsite in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Perform detailed analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances.
• Prepare and process Payroll, including review of payroll information and related accounting.
• Review and Process Expense Reports.
• Review and supervise Accounts Payable, including oversight of day-to-day activities and period-end processes.
• Prepare financial reporting packages and supporting schedules for management.
• Support the preparation of audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors.
• Assist with fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, deferred expenses, and other key accounting areas as needed.
• Support and strengthen internal controls and process improvements across the accounting function.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, controls, and reporting.
• Participate in special projects and other operational initiatives as the company advances its technology and mission.
