Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead multiple accounting functions supporting a complex portfolio of government and commercial programs. This onsite/hybrid role in Poway requires deep ASC 606 revenue recognition and government contracting expertise, partnering with Finance, FP&A, and Operations to drive accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 11+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Significant experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Strong background in government contract accounting.
• Experience overseeing multiple accounting functions and teams.
• Experience managing managers and leading multi-layer organizations.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, FAR, CAS, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
• Advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop multiple accounting teams including managers and direct contributors.
• Serve as trusted advisor to executive leadership on technical accounting and financial reporting.
• Partner with FP&A, Program Finance, Contracts, Operations, and Senior leadership to support strategic decisions.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration across the accounting organization.
• Oversee revenue recognition for government and commercial contracts per ASC 606.
• Review contract terms and evaluate accounting treatment, risk, cash flow, and reporting needs.
• Influence accounting outcomes across the contract lifecycle including proposals and awards.
• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and robust internal controls.
