Job summary

Aston Carter in Westminster, MD, seeks a Senior Accountant to lead the accounting function, overseeing AR/AP, inventory and manufacturing accounting, government contract compliance, and GAAP reporting. You will manage a small team, partner with operations and supply chain, and drive process improvements while ensuring strong financial controls.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, 2–3 years in a supervisory role, and hands-on GAAP expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with AR/AP and general accounting expertise.
• Approximately 2–3 years in accounting management or supervisory role.
• Hands-on general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month/year-end close.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function and supervise staff with strong cross-department communication.
• Oversee AR/AP workflows, invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
• Manage manufacturing inventory accounting, including cost allocations for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Support government contract audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulations.
• Lead month-end and year-end close, prepare financial statements, and drive process improvements.
