Job summary

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close for cash, spend and expense, corporate card, accruals, and prepaids in NetSuite.
• Prepare and review bank, credit card, and prepaid reconciliations, using Flux analysis to resolve variances.
• Own the prepaid and accrual cycles, including amortization schedules and close workpapers.
• Review work from senior accountants and offshore resources, set clear expectations, and coach the team toward accurate output.
• Identify process breakdowns and system sync issues; partner with FP&A to fix them.

Job description

Our client is looking for a hands‑on general ledger leader to keep day‑to‑day accounting accurate and on schedule while the accounting leadership team focuses on a major ERP implementation. This is a role for someone who still likes doing the work, not just reviewing it. You will prepare entries and reconciliations yourself, review the work of senior accountants and offshore resources, and fix the process issues that keep showing up at close. The team needs someone who can work independently and contribute right away with very little ramp‑up.

Job Type: Contract, 6 to 12 months with potential extension up to 18 months

Location: Remote (U.S.)

Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $75-80/hr (flexible) plus benefits

What You’ll Do:

• Lead month-end close for cash, spend and expense, corporate card, accruals, and prepaids, making sure entries are accurate and booked on time in NetSuite.
• Prepare and review bank, credit card, and prepaid reconciliations, using flux analysis to track down variances and get them resolved.
• Own the prepaid and accrual cycles, including amortization schedules, period-over-period review, reversals, and the workpapers that support a clean audit trail.
• Review work from senior accountants and offshore resources, set clear expectations, and coach the team toward consistent, accurate output.
• Spot process breakdowns, system sync issues, and recurring errors across cash and expense workflows, then partner with FP&A and other accounting teams to fix them.

What Gets You the Job:

• Active or inactive CPA and a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• At least 5 years of accounting management experience, including recent hands‑on general ledger work in industry (public accounting, especially Big Four, is a strong plus but not a substitute).
• Hands‑on NetSuite experience in a month‑end close environment.
• Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, INDEX/MATCH, and large data sets, and you are comfortable showing them in a live exercise.
• Ability to work 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, with longer hours during the first five business days of each month, plus the independence and communication skills to manage close without hand‑holding.
