Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking a General Ledger Accounting Manager to oversee the close and financial reporting processes in San Jose, CA, on-site five days a week.

The role requires hands-on leadership of GL, prepaids, accruals, AP, and fixed assets, with strong US GAAP knowledge and ERP experience. You will coordinate with global teams and manage one direct report.

Qualifications

• 7+ years progressive accounting experience including GL, close, prepaids, accruals, A/P, and fixed assets.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge, capitalization policies, reconciliations, and close controls.
• Experience reviewing complex agreements with technical and operational teams.
• ERP systems experience, fixed asset subledgers, audits, and advanced Excel; global coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close activities for GL areas including journal entries, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and variance analysis.
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and ensure accurate classification, amortization, and reporting.
• Oversee accrual and accounts payable accounting, including completeness reviews, cutoff analysis, reversals, and documentation.
• Manage fixed asset accounting including additions, construction in progress, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and counts.
• Review business agreements with Technical Accounting and partners to determine appropriate expense/capitalization treatment.
• Coordinate accounting activities and deadlines across domestic and international teams.
• Establish close controls, reconciliation standards, and internal control documentation for assigned accounts.
• Support external audits by preparing schedules and resolving requests.
• Identify improvements to accounting processes, systems, reporting, and close efficiency.
• Provide guidance and review support to accounting team members while managing one direct report.

Our client, a global technology and manufacturing company, is seeking a General Ledger Accounting Manager to oversee key areas of the close and financial reporting process.

Location:

San Jose, CA. This role is on-site five days per week.

Job Description:

This hands‑on leadership role will manage accounting for prepaids, accruals, liabilities, accounts payable, and fixed assets while partnering with Finance, Technical Accounting, IT, and other business functions. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, sound technical judgment, and experience coordinating accounting activities across domestic and international teams.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly close activities for assigned general ledger areas, including journal entries, reconciliations, roll‑forwards, and variance analysis
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and ensure accurate classification, amortization, and reporting
• Oversee accrual and accounts payable accounting, including completeness reviews, cutoff analysis, reversals, and supporting documentation
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, construction in progress, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and physical asset counts
• Review business agreements with Technical Accounting and operational partners to determine appropriate expense, prepaid, accrual, or capitalization treatment
• Coordinate accounting activities and deadlines across domestic and international teams
• Establish effective close controls, reconciliation standards, and internal control documentation for assigned accounts
• Support external audits by preparing schedules, explaining account activity, and resolving requests
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, reporting, and close efficiency
• Provide guidance and review support to accounting team members while managing one direct report

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger, close, prepaids, accruals, accounts payable, and fixed assets
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, capitalization policies, account reconciliations, and financial close controls
• Experience reviewing complex business agreements and determining the appropriate accounting treatment in partnership with technical and operational teams
• Experience with ERP systems, fixed asset subledgers, internal controls, audit support, and advanced Excel, with the ability to coordinate effectively across global teams
