Bishop & Company is partnering with a well-established, locally headquartered grocery retail organization to recruit a Senior Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations and financial close activities.

This role oversees general ledger, financial reporting, and compliance, while serving as a key partner to leadership and cross-functional teams. The Senior Accounting Manager will lead a high-performing accounting team, oversee an offshore expense function, and drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and internal controls.

Grocery and/or Retail experience is highly preferred.

What You’ll Do

• Lead end-to-end accounting operations, including general ledger, inventory, fixed assets, capital projects, and intercompany activity
• Own the quarterly close process and ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial reporting
• Prepare and support audits, serving as a primary liaison to external auditors and tax partners
• Lead, mentor, and develop internal accounting staff and an offshore expense team
• Strengthen internal controls, streamline processes, and identify automation opportunities
• Partner with leadership to deliver clear financial insights and support decision-making

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in leadership
• Experience supporting $100M+ revenue environments and complex operations
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
• Hands-on experience with Sage, Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), and Excel
• Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
• Grocery and/or Retail experience highly preferred
• Hybrid work arrangement (office and remote)
• Extended hours during quarter-end, year-end, and audit cycles
• Starting salary range: $100,000–$110,000, depending on experience and background
