LHH is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager in California to oversee day-to-day accounting operations. Overview

A well-established organization in the Greater Sacramento/Davis area is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations. This role is responsible for the month-end close process, financial reporting, internal controls, and team leadership, while partnering cross-functionally to support strategic business decisions.

We are looking for a collaborative, hands‑on leader who enjoys improving processes, developing people, and ensuring accuracy and compliance across all accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee general ledger activities including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Prepare and review financial statements, KPIs, cash flow forecasts, and balance sheet budgets
  • Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with US GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with SOX / J‑SOX requirements across all accounting cycles
  • Partner with third‑party providers on tax compliance and audit support
  • Review consolidated financial reporting and variance analyses
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members; provide ongoing feedback and performance support
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to support operational and strategic initiatives
  • Participate in special projects, ad‑hoc analysis, and process improvement efforts
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics D365 experience a plus)
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail‑oriented
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
  • Progressive accounting or finance leadership experience required
  • Prior people management or supervisory experience required
  • Public accounting experience with a multi‑national firm strongly desired
