Job summary

New Chapter, Inc. in Brattleboro, VT is seeking a Sr. Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting to lead accounting and financial reporting for New Chapter, Inc.

and New Chapter Canada, Inc. You will ensure accurate financials, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvements to support growth. You will oversee AR, AP, and Fixed Assets, drive month-end closes, and deliver timely statements and tax filings.

Qualifications

• 7+ years accounting experience across A/R, A/P, G/L, and Fixed Assets.
• 3+ years experience managing others.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and audit experience.
• Experience with Business Central ERP.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end leadership and oversight for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets; ensure accurate transactions, reconciliations, controls, issue resolution, and timely period-end reporting.
• Ensure General Ledger accuracy and on-time execution of A/R and A/P activities.
• Ensure timely government filings including sales and use tax filings, annual reports and business licenses.
• Establish, document, and continuously improve accounting procedures, controls, and job aids for consistent execution and knowledge transfer.
• Lead monthly and annual closes with clear ownership, timelines, reconciliations, issue escalation, and continuous improvement.
• Review and analyze financial statements for accuracy, trends, and insights for leadership.
• Lead, coach, develop, train, and manage a staff of six with accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build cross-functional relationships to resolve issues and improve end-to-end processes.
• Lead process simplification using AI and digital tools.
