Job summary

INFIELD Talent Solutions has a strong opportunity for a Senior Accounting & Controls Manager in Metro Detroit. The role leads AP/AR operations, supports GAAP reporting, and strengthens internal controls while collaborating with the Controller and senior leadership.

You will optimize Aspire and Acumatica ERP workflows, maintain hands-on involvement in GL activity, month-end closes, and financial reporting, and partner with operations to improve job costing and vendor activity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility
• Strong AP & AR operational knowledge, including leading people and improving processes
• Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting
• Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close and balance-sheet reconciliations
• Experience in ERP environments and optimizing ERP workflows
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Job description

We're seeking a hands-on Senior Accounting & Controls Manager to join a growing commercial services organization in Metro Detroit.

This is a highly visible accounting leadership role for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex operations, developing people, strengthening controls, and improving the systems and processes that support a growing business.

Working closely with the Controller and senior leadership, this individual will provide leadership across accounts payable and accounts receivable operations while maintaining broad involvement across general ledger accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, ERP optimization and operational accounting.

The organization has recently invested significantly in its systems infrastructure, including Aspire, creating an opportunity for this leader to help optimize workflows, strengthen financial processes and build greater connectivity between accounting and field operations.

What You'll Do

• Lead AP & AR Operations: Provide day-to-day leadership, structure and accountability across accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing, strong controls and effective issue resolution.
• Develop & Support the Team: Coach and develop accounting team members, establish clear expectations and help build processes that enable the team to operate efficiently and effectively.
• Strengthen Processes & Controls: Evaluate existing accounting workflows, identify gaps or inefficiencies and implement practical improvements that strengthen controls, accuracy and scalability.
• Optimize ERP Workflows: Help maximize the effectiveness of Aspire and Acumatica, improving workflows across AP, AR, purchasing, job costing, field operations and the general ledger.
• Support Core Accounting Activities: Maintain hands‑on involvement with general ledger accounting, month‑end/year‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Partner with Operations: Work across accounting and field operations to improve financial visibility and processes related to job costing, labor allocations, vendor activity and revenue.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, improve reporting and create more efficient accounting workflows.
• Support Audit & Risk Management: Maintain strong documentation and internal controls while supporting annual audit preparation and ongoing risk management.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility
• Strong accounts payable and accounts receivable operational knowledge, including experience leading people and improving transactional accounting processes
• Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting
• Hands‑on experience with general ledger accounting, month‑end close and balance‑sheet reconciliations
• Proven ability to identify inefficient processes and implement practical improvements
• Experience working within and optimizing ERP environments
• Strong business acumen and an understanding of how accounting interacts with operations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• CPA, CMA or MBA is a plus
• Experience within commercial services, facilities management, construction or another multi‑site/operational environment is highly valued

Systems Experience

Experience with Aspire and/or Acumatica is highly preferred, particularly across AP/AR, general ledger, job costing, purchasing or field operations.
