Job summary

Atlantic Group is seeking an accomplished Controller to lead core accounting functions and drive a scalable finance function in a growing organization.

You will manage close processes, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management while partnering with the CFO on strategic decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
  • MBA preferred; 10+ years in progressive accounting roles.
  • 5+ years in a Controller/leadership position.
  • Experience with acquisitions and post-close integration preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
  • Deltek Vantagepoint or similar ERP experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee General Ledger, A/P, A/R, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Lease Accounting.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close per U.S. GAAP.
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasts, and FP&A.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital, treasury, and covenants.
  • Coordinate audits, support tax compliance, strengthen controls.
  • Support acquisition activity and balance sheet opening.
  • Develop scalable accounting processes and drive automation.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the CFO with insights and reporting.

Job description

Join a growing, acquisitive organization and help build a scalable finance function supporting continued expansion and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Accounting Leadership: Oversee all core accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Lease Accounting.
  • Financial Reporting: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Partner with executive leadership to support the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Cash Management: Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital management, treasury activities, and debt covenant compliance.
  • Audit & Compliance: Coordinate annual audits, support tax compliance, and strengthen internal controls to ensure financial integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • M&A Integration: Support acquisition activity by preparing opening balance sheets, coordinating purchase accounting, and integrating newly acquired businesses into accounting systems and reporting processes.
  • Process Improvement: Develop scalable accounting processes, standardize financial policies, and drive automation and system enhancements to support future growth.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Partnership: Serve as a trusted business partner to the CFO, providing financial insights, operational support, and analytical reporting to support key business decisions.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA preferred; CPA required.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar leadership role.
  • Industry Experience: Background within professional services, architecture, engineering, consulting, or other project-based organizations preferred.
  • M&A Experience: Experience supporting acquisitions, purchase accounting, and post-close financial integration strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting; experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar ERP systems is a plus.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams while driving operational improvements and scalable financial infrastructure.
  • Attributes: Strategic, analytical, and hands‑on leader with exceptional communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
