Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant for a fully remote role reporting to the Controller. You will manage reconciliations, journal entries, AR/AP, and billing while ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate revenue recognition across departments.

You will assist in budgeting, forecasting, audits, and tax schedules, collaborating with finance and operations to improve processes and financial health. A CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years (Staff Accountant), or 5-8 (Sr Accountant) years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze and review expenditures; report to departments.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and proper revenue recognition.
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
• Assist in building financial statements (balance sheet, income statement).
• Assist in budget design and preparation; year-end tax schedules.
