Job summary

BenchPrep, a cloud-based learning platform, is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and support budgeting, forecasting, and audits. This remote role reports to the Controller and collaborates across the finance team to improve processes.

Ideal candidates have a solid accounting background, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5–8 years (Sr Accountant) in accounting/auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Proactive, team player with a positive attitude towards contributing and learning.
• Thorough knowledge and experience in financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite, Intacct, QuickBooks) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analysis and reporting of expenditures; allocate expenses to departments; provide reports as needed.
• Review transactions for GAAP compliance with company policies.
• Analyze billing transactions to ensure correct revenue recognition.
• Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals; assist in financial statements.
• Assist in budget design and year-end tax schedules; look for process improvements.
