Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant for a fully remote role, reporting to the Controller. The team focuses on accurate financial records, reporting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements, with opportunity to contribute across budgeting and tax planning.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting background, experience with GAAP and revenue recognition, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate financial information across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years in accounting or auditing; public accounting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments; report as needed.
• Review transactions for GAAP compliance and proper revenue recognition.
• Prepare general ledger entries and monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analysis.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and year-end tax schedules; seek process improvements.
