Job summary

BenchPrep is hiring a Staff/Senior Accountant for a remote role reporting to the Controller. You will maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, analyze data, and ensure regulatory compliance across budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements.

The role requires strong accounting background, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years (Staff Accountant), or 5-8 (Sr Accountant) years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Team player with a positive attitude towards contributing and learning.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with NetSuite, Intacct, QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including account reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments with reporting to departments as necessary.
• Review transactions for GAAP compliance and company policies.
• Analyze billing transactions for revenue recognition policy allocations.
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals in the general ledger.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analyses.
• Assist in designing budgets for management review.
• Prepare year-end schedules for tax returns.
• Look for opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
