Job summary

Caribou Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant to own day-to-day GL activity and support scalable systems. You’ll manage high-volume refinance transactions, reconcile bank accounts, and own PPE analysis while onboarding lenders and driving timely month-end closes.

You’ll work with the accounting team to ensure US GAAP compliance, produce financial reporting, and identify process improvements. Remote-friendly with office options in Denver/Chandler; CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred.
• 3-6 years experience in progressive accounting roles with a preference for public accounting and/or large corporate/fintech experience.
• Experience with modern accounting software required, with a preference for experience with NetSuite.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with an understanding of US GAAP and ability to document accounting conclusions.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present complex information.
• Advanced Excel capabilities with large datasets.
• Flexibility to adapt when priorities change.

Responsibilities

• Oversee high-volume daily refinance loan transactions and own daily bank reconciliations.
• End-to-end PPE analysis, capitalization journal entries, and schedule reconciliations.
• Lead accounting onboarding for new lenders ensuring systems and approvals meet launch requirements.
• Drive month-end close with complex journal entries and accruals.
• Perform balance sheet and revenue reconciliations with tie-outs to GL.
• Support monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, and flux reviews.
• Audit close procedures to eliminate bottlenecks and automate tasks.
• Collaborate to establish GAAP-compliant processes and internal controls.
• Lead cross-department efficiency projects and assist with ad hoc analyses.
