Job summary

engageCFO is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to own client accounting delivery for a portfolio of clients, largely remote from Colombia. You will manage AR/AP, perform period-end closes, payroll, and ensure compliance while collaborating with our U.S.-based team.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of bookkeeping experience, strong cash and accrual knowledge, and proficiency in QuickBooks Online, with the ability to learn Gusto, ADP, Bill.com, Ramp.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required.
• Ability to learn other platforms such as Gusto, ADP, Bill.com, Ramp.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of bookkeeping or staff accountant experience.
• Solid understanding of both cash and accrual accounting methods.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Availability during standard U.S. working hours.
• A reliable internet connection and a dedicated home workspace.

Responsibilities

• Client Accounting Delivery: Provide weekly accounting support for an assigned portfolio of clients, managing AR/AP.
• Month-End Close & Reconciliations: Own general ledger management and month-end close, completing reconciliations across bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
• Payroll & Financial Compliance: Process client payroll and related payroll accounting, track fixed assets and depreciation, apply revenue recognition per client.
• Process & Systems Management: Work daily in QuickBooks Online (QBO), document processes and maintain internal controls, and track tasks in ClickUp.
• Client Relationship Support: Serve as a day-to-day resource for assigned clients on bookkeeping questions and inquiries.
• Escalation & Judgment: Proactively elevate issues to the Controller or CFO when needed.
