Job summary

Big Chief Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This role focuses on payroll administration across multiple segments while supporting month-end close, GL accounting, reconciliations, and expense management.

Prior payroll experience is preferred but not required, and you will independently manage payroll processes with strong judgment and confidentiality. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, at least 3 years of corporate

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 3+ years of corporate accounting experience preferred.
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly payroll for ~130 employees across three segments.
• Manage employee/employer contributions for HSA, FSA, and 401(k).
• Maintain payroll data in Paycor with tax, deposits, and deductions.
• Liaise with Paycor to resolve payroll questions and issues.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll to GL and bank activity.
• Support month-end close and contribute to reconciliations and journal entries.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts including accrued payroll and payroll taxes.
• Maintain documentation for audits and resolve discrepancies.
• Oversee Navan travel & expense program, including reimbursements and policy compliance.
• Manage corporate cell phone program and device lifecycles.
• Collaborate with teams to address payroll and accounting questions.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
