Job summary

The Big Idea Group is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant with 5+ years of experience to manage day-to-day accounting across three affiliated small businesses with fewer than 60 employees combined. This role owns AR, AP, payroll, and tax preparation, keeping each set of books clean and on schedule.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working closely with leadership and our outside CPA firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Approximately 5+ years of accounting experience across AR, AP, and payroll.
• Experience for multiple businesses; intercompany accounting is a plus.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and tax compliance understanding.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or Xero and a major payroll platform.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• High integrity with confidential information.
• CPA/CMA or pursuit of certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable for three businesses including invoicing, payments, and collections.
• Process accounts payable, vendor records, and 1099 filings.
• Run payroll for all businesses, including new hires and terminations.
• Ensure payroll tax deposits and filings (941, 940, state, W-2).
• Prepare sales and use tax returns and year-end workpapers.
• Close monthly books and reconcile bank/credit card statements.
• Produce monthly financial statements and a combined leadership view.
• Handle intercompany transactions and allocations consistently.
• Support budgeting and variance tracking; strengthen internal controls.
• Document procedures for continuity during absences or growth.
