Job summary

Aston Carter seeks a Staff Accountant for an on-site, contract-to-hire role in Lanham, MD. You will prepare and post journal entries, reconcile ledgers, and support month-end closes while ensuring GAAP compliance and data integrity.

You will work with a four-person accounting team, begin the workday at 7:00–8:00 a.m., and operate in a structured environment with comprehensive benefits, advancing toward permanent placement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in accounting/finance preferred.
• 2+ years of general ledger experience and month-end close.
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience with ERP systems and Excel for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Post journal entries accurately and timely.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial reports and schedules.
• Support audits with documentation and explanations.
