Job summary

iA American Warranty LP is seeking a Senior Accountant, Insurance Accounting, to oversee the DAC underwriter and related obligor/accounting activities, focusing on process improvements and reporting.

The candidate should have 3–5 years of accounting experience, solid IFRS or US GAAP knowledge, and hands-on experience with NetSuite, SAP, Blackline, and Great Plains. This hybrid role is located in Addison, TX with competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Assist monthly close for internal underwriter, administrators and obligors.
• Prepare financial reviews and analyze sales trends for management.
• Support client relationships with monthly surplus disbursements and reimbursements.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and report KPIs to improve team performance.
• Improve system efficiencies and governance to ensure operational effectiveness.
• Coordinate with auditors for timely responses and audits.
• Recommend policy improvements and fraud detection techniques.

What you’ll accomplish with us

As a Senior Accountant, Insurance Accounting, you’ll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:

• Assist with the monthly financial close process for the internal underwriter, administrators, and obligors, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries and review of monthly entity financial results

• Prepare financial reviews for client portfolio, preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, and providing analysis and insights on sales trends to Management

• Provide client relationship support and engagement including monthly surplus disbursements and other trust reimbursements.

• Perform balance sheet account reconciliation and assist Manager with resolution of problem accounts and/or reconciling items.

• Assist in the development and reporting of relevant KPIs and metrics to optimize the performance and success of the team

• Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices

• Establish and maintain robust internal controls and governance to uphold operational effectiveness.

• Assist in the facilitation of seamless collaboration with auditors, both internal and external, ensuring timely and comprehensive responses to requests.

• Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establish the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
