Job summary

iA American Warranty LP is seeking a Senior Accountant, Insurance Accounting, to oversee the insurance underwriter (DAC) and other obligor accounting activities. This role focuses on process improvements, quality assurance, and reporting operations within a collaborative environment.

You will contribute to internal controls, balance sheet reconciliations, KPI reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with auditors and management.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP required.
• Experience with financial systems (NetSuite/SAP/Blackline/Great Plains).

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly close for internal underwriter, administrators, and obligors, ensuring costs are recorded and journal entries are reviewed.
• Prepare financial reviews for client portfolio and analyze sales trends for management.
• Provide client relationship support including monthly surplus disbursements and trust reimbursements.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and assist in resolving reconciling items.
• Develop and report KPIs to optimize team performance.
• Improve system efficiencies and business practices.
• Establish robust internal controls and governance to uphold operational effectiveness.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors for timely responses.
• Recommend policy changes and prevent fraud.

What you’ll accomplish with us

• Assist with the monthly financial close process for the internal underwriter, administrators, and obligors, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries and review of monthly entity financial results
• Prepare financial reviews for client portfolio, preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, and providing analysis and insights on sales trends to Management
• Provide client relationship support and engagement including monthly surplus disbursements and other trust reimbursements.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliation and assist Manager with resolution of problem accounts and/or reconciling items.
• Assist in the development and reporting of relevant KPIs and metrics to optimize the performance and success of the team
• Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls and governance to uphold operational effectiveness.
• Assist in the facilitation of seamless collaboration with auditors, both internal and external, ensuring timely and comprehensive responses to requests.
• Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establish the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
