Job summary

The City of Raleigh is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting Division of the Finance Department. You will prepare monthly journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support grant management and reporting.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 3–5 years of experience and can collaborate with multiple departments to maintain financial integrity and compliance with GAAP and GASB standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field; 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries and review ledgers across City departments.
• Coordinate with AP, Procurement, Revenue, and Treasury for accurate records.
• Support State sales tax payments and reimbursements.
• Record tax-related data for various taxes and grants.
• Conduct complex account and bank reconciliations monthly.
• Provide accounting guidance to City departments and improve controls.
• Research GAAP, GASB pronouncements and ACFR requirements.
• Coordinate external audits and single audits for grants.
• Prepare and review ACFR, statements, notes and demographics.
