Job summary

City of Raleigh seeks an Accountant to join the Accounting Division in the Finance Department. The role maintains the general ledger, handles grants, and prepares financial statements and reports to support management decisions.

The Accountant provides fiscal guidance, collaborates across departments, and ensures compliance with GAAP and City policies. Occasional inventory and asset controls are part of the duties. The successful candidate will assist with month-end close and ACFR schedules.

Qualifications

• Governmental accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
• Grant management and reporting experience.
• Account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
• Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable management.
• Budget management and procurement.
• ERP system and related software experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, year-end accruals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare bank reconciliations for City accounts.
• Act as point of contact for fiscal staff.
• Reconcile quarterly grant reporting and grant activity.
• Verify budgets and approve payment wires.
• Coordinate timely financial reporting for internal and external partners.
• Assist with close processes and ACFR preparation.
