Job summary

BenchPrep is hiring a Staff/Senior Accountant for remote work in the United States. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements.

You’ll handle reconciliations, journal entries, GAAP compliance, and revenue recognition analysis while supporting management with actionable insights. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, 3–8 years of experience, excellent communication, and a proactive,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years (Staff Accountant), or 5-8 (Sr Accountant) years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Team player with a positive attitude towards contributing and learning.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills; detail oriented and deadline driven.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; self-starter with multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments; report to departments.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and proper revenue recognition.
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals in the general ledger.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analysis.
• Assist in designing and preparing budgets for management review.
• Prepare year-end schedules for annual tax returns.
• Look for ways to improve accounting processes and procedures.
