Job summary

PLS is seeking a Senior Accountant to support general ledger, month-end close, and profitability analysis at our Chicago location. This hands-on leader will collaborate with field operations and accounting staff to ensure accurate month-end close and timely reporting.

The role requires a bachelor's in accounting, 4+ years of accounting experience, and strong GAAP knowledge, with CPA preferred. Expect in-depth reviews, policy improvements, and cross-functional coordination in a dynamic in-person

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or higher.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience including general ledger.
• CPA preferred.
• Experience with Blackline and Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP).
• Strong communication and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries with proper documentation.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and analyze variances.
• Review monthly financial statements and perform variance analysis.
• Prepare year-end audit schedules and respond to audit requests.
• Communicate accounting issues and process improvements to management.
• Document and improve accounting policies and internal controls.
• Oversee staff-prepared entries and ensure policy compliance.
• Support special projects and system initiatives.
