Job summary

Career Crunch is seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join our Chicago team. You will assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, maintain the general ledger, and support month‑end close.

You will conduct GL and bank reconciliations, assist in budgeting and forecasting, and aid in internal and external audits. The role requires strong accuracy, confidentiality, and organizational skills, with experience in MAS 90/SAGE 100 and Crystal Reports being a plus.

Qualifications

• Assist with Preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Assist in maintaining accurate general ledger by reviewing, posting, and adjusting entries.
• Assist in Monthly Financials & Month End Close process and ensure accuracy.
• Support bank reconciliations and reconcile other financial accounts.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes and analyze variances.
• Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
• Analyze account balances and transactions to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
• Enter vendor payables with 3-way match; maintain vendor data and process weekly checks.
• Post cash receipts and reconcile customer accounts; handle credit card transactions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
• Maintain general ledger integrity via timely postings and adjustments.
• Support month-end close activities and ensure accuracy.
• Conduct GL and bank reconciliations and verify accuracy of accounts.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting; analyze variances between forecast and actual.
• Support audits by gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Analyze accounts payable balances and processing; resolve discrepancies.
• Process accounts receivable: cash receipts, reconciliations, disputes resolution.
• Use ERP/accounting software to manage financial data; MAS 90/SAGE 100 and Crystal Reports proficiency.
• Collaborate with CFO and other departments to provide financial insights.
