Job summary

The Methodical Group is seeking a Senior Accountant in Chicago with 6-10 years of accounting experience to support financial reporting and month-end close. You will handle GL maintenance, reconciliations, budgeting support, and AP/AR processing while collaborating across departments.

Ideal candidates bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with MAS 90/Sage 100. Crystal Reports knowledge is a plus, and confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of hands-on accounting experience in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, AP and AR.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support month-end close activities and ensure accuracy of financials.
• Maintain general ledger; post and adjust journal entries.
• Perform bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Process vendor invoices using three-way matching; manage vendor records.
• Post cash receipts and customer payments; reconcile customer accounts.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation.
• Use ERP systems to manage financial data.
• Assist with special projects and cross-functional collaboration.
