Job summary

The Senior Accountant at RKL LLP will manage daily accounting tasks, including sales postings and expense management, and perform initial reviews of financial statements for clients in Lancaster, PA. You will handle month-end close, prepare balance sheets and P&L, and respond to client inquiries to deliver accurate monthly financials in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
• Minimum of 5 years of general accounting and payroll experience in corporate setting.
• CPA or other certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) and prepare and enter month-end adjusting journal entries.
• Prepare comprehensive financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, financial analyses, and highlight budget variances.
• Set priorities and review the work of team members, including payroll journals, bank transaction coding, and month-end journal entries, and ensure staff adhere to best practices and internal controls.
• Update accounting software with client data and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Prepare for, schedule, and conduct client meetings, ensuring thorough preparation and follow-up on identified tasks, and maintain effective client communication.
• Promptly respond to client inquiries and requests for information within 24 hours while maintaining high-quality customer service.
• Prepare workpapers, review financial statements for accuracy.
• Develop a deep understanding of client industries and accounting operations, and contribute to the improvement of financial systems and processes.
• Retrieve bills from vendor sites and conduct bank and expense management reconciliations.
• File, pay, and track sales tax, ensuring compliance with deadlines and maintaining accurate records.
• Assist and support team members with bill coding, client questions, and fill in for absent teammates as needed.
• Perform additional responsibilities and adapt to client needs for month-end closing and other accounting tasks.
