Job summary

Opendoor is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting & Finance team in a hands-on in-person role based in Phoenix. You will apply accounting expertise, public company experience, and a forward-looking mindset to automate processes and improve close efficiency.

You will lead journal entries, reconciliations, and consolidation work, while supporting audits and internal controls. The role requires collaboration with senior colleagues and mentoring of junior staff in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in public company or Big 4 environment.
• Familiarity with automation and AI/ML tools and willingness to explore how tech can improve processes.
• Experience supporting or participating in SOX compliance and internal controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, lookups) and large data handling.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced close process.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

• Leverage AI tools to streamline accounting workflows and data analysis.
• Design and implement automation to reduce manual effort and improve close efficiency.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables.
• Support consolidation and external audits including SOX and internal controls documentation.
• Prepare monthly consolidation and elimination journal entries across currencies and intercompany activity.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
