Job summary

Lawrence County Community Action Partnership is seeking a Staff Accountant II to join the finance team onsite in New Castle, PA. You will report to the Director of Finance and contribute to accurate financial reporting and compliance within a nonprofit framework.

The role requires 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with nonprofit fund accounting and accounting software. This is a full-time, onsite position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in accounting required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices (FASB ASC 958).
  • Experience with fund accounting and grant reporting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT or Sage.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Ensure GAAP and nonprofit-specific accounting standards compliance (including fund accounting).
  • Support the annual audit and 990 process and liaise with external auditors.
  • Monitor and report on grant funding, including compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee restricted and unrestricted fund tracking.
  • Improve and document accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with program and development teams.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, experience in nonprofit financial management, and a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit-specific accounting standards (including fund accounting)
