Job summary

Atrium, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization, seeks an Accountant to join its Accounting team in Tampa, FL. The Accountant will oversee and audit grant accounting activities, support general ledger maintenance, and ensure compliance across multiple funding sources.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least 3 years of accounting experience, with advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas). Salary ranges from $55,000 to $65,000.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activities and maintain accurate financial records.
• Regularly review federal and state grants for compliance and accuracy.
• Record grant revenues and expenses, prepare journal entries, and assist month-end close.
• Prepare and review AR and AP aging reports and assist with grant reporting.
• Ensure grant and accounting functions comply with multiple funding sources.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$55k - $65k

Position Overview

The Accountant will join the unified Accounting Department, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and working closely with the Senior Accountant. The Accountant will oversee and audit grant accounting activities while supporting general ledger maintenance duties and ensuring compliance across multiple funding sources.

Responsibilities Of The Accountant

• Manage general ledger activities and maintain accurate financial records.
• Regularly review federal and state grants to ensure accounting accuracy and compliance.
• Record both grant revenue and expenses accurately and timely.
• Handle all reconciliations related to grants and general accounting functions.
• Prepare journal entries and resolve discrepancies as needed.
• Support month-end closing procedures.
• Prepare and review AR and AP aging reports.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and grant reporting.
• Review compliance for federal, state, local, and private grants.

Required Experience/Skills For The Accountant

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
• Highly proficient in Excel, including VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and formulas.
• Self-sufficient with the ability to work well independently.
• Detail-oriented with strong numerical accuracy.

Preferred Experience/Skills For The Accountant
