Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience with nonprofit G/L and month-end close.
• Strong nonprofit fund and grant accounting knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations).
• ERP experience (Acumatica, ADP, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or Workday).

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial records are accurate and complete.
• Lead or support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and allocations.
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Account for restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and contributions per nonprofit GAAP.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis for leadership.
• Support the annual audit and Form 990 preparation, including schedules and auditor requests.
• Reconcile payroll and benefits activity processed through ADP.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Find and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
• Take on special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.

Job description

Our client is a well-established national nonprofit public health organization focused on improving the health of young people. It is known for award-winning national campaigns, and its work also includes research, policy studies, community and youth engagement programs, and digital health products. The organization has an annual budget of about $50M and a mission-driven, collaborative culture.

The Role

Our client is hiring a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team, reporting to the Controller and CFO. The team is small and close-knit. You'll have real ownership of the general ledger and month-end close, and you'll be a trusted partner to leadership. This is a great fit for someone who wants a stable, long-term home with room to grow over time.

Schedule:

Hybrid. In-office Tuesday through Thursday, remote Monday and Friday

Responsibilities

• Solid knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations)
• Experience with Acumatica and ADP is a plus. Candidates with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Workday, or similar ERP experience are also encouraged to apply
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines
