Job summary

IsoTalent is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant in Salt Lake City for a hybrid role that can transition from temporary to permanent. You will own cost accounting, inventory valuation, and the month-end close, collaborating closely with operations and production to ensure accurate financials.

You will drive standard costing, variances, and internal controls while mentoring staff and supporting budgeting and tax tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on cost accounting.
• Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• CPA or CMA preferred or in progress.

Senior Accountant | Hybrid, Temp or Permanent

Salt Lake City, UT | Hybrid | $35–$45 per hour for Temp; $95K to $105K for Permanent

Are you a Senior Accountant who wants to own the monthly close and see how your numbers shape real production decisions? Would you like a full-time, hybrid role with a clear path to a permanent position? And do you want to work side by side with operations, not behind a closed door?

Our client, a gourmet flavored butter maker, is hiring a Temp Senior Accountant in Salt Lake City on a temp-to-hire basis. You'll run day-to-day accounting, lead the close, and own costing and inventory accounting from day one.

The Perks

• $35–$45 per hour for Temp work, based on experience; $95K to $105K for Permanent (they are open to both)
• Full-time, hybrid work setup in Salt Lake City (4 days/week in office)

A Day in the Life

You'll lead the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and prepaid schedules. You'll prepare and review account reconciliations, maintain the general ledger, and oversee or support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.

On the cost side, you'll build and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead. You'll value inventory, reconcile inventory, WIP, and COGS, and explain purchase price, labor, overhead, and production variances to operations leadership. You'll also review bills of materials and routings with the operations team so system costs match what actually happens on the floor.

Beyond the close, you'll build reports that help the team make better calls on pricing, scrap, waste, and efficiency. You'll support budgeting for assigned cost centers, assist with sales tax filings and 1099s, and recommend fixes where internal controls have gaps.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on cost accounting
• Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and the month-end close
• Experience working directly with operations, production, or supply chain teams
• Proficiency with an ERP or accounting system such as NetSuite, Sage, Epicor, or QuickBooks, plus advanced Excel skills
• Ability to get up to speed quickly in a new environment
• Comfort in a manufacturing setting with temperature changes, noise, dust, and moving equipment, and the ability to lift 5–50 lbs occasionally
• Willingness to follow all Food Safety and Quality Assurance procedures
• CPA or CMA, or working toward one, preferred
• Food manufacturing experience preferred
• Experience supervising staff or leading an inventory audit preferred
