BetterButter is seeking a hands‑on Senior Accountant in Salt Lake City to lead day‑to‑day financial activities and the monthly close. You will mentor junior staff and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across finance, production, and purchasing teams.

You will oversee cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variances, while partnering with operations to maintain margins and robust internal controls. CPA/CMA candidates and food‑manufacturing experience are valued.

Qualifikationen

• 3+ years progressive accounting experience including cost accounting.
• Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation and variance analysis.
• Experience coordinating with operations, production or supply chain teams.

• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite/Sage/QuickBooks) and advanced Excel.

Full-time Senior Accountant wanted at BetterButter in Salt Lake City, UT! We're seeking a hands-on leader to maintain accuracy, timeliness, and compliance throughout all financial activities while guiding junior accounting staff. Your efforts will make an impact throughout the organization and directly play into our continued growth and success. We're offering:

• Salary of $95,000 - $105,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications

DRIVING EXCELLENCE AS OUR SENIOR ACCOUNTANT:

This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll oversee accurate day-to-day financial activities and timely month close. You'll lead your team and mentor junior accounting staff to support their development while ensuring daily excellence and compliance. Organization and attention to detail are key, and you'll coordinate with inventory, production, and purchasing teams to stay within margins and maintain accurate books. You'll support cost accounting operations, lead month end close procedures (including journal entries, accruals, and prepaid schedules, review account reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger.

Attentively, you'll oversee crucial accounts payable, receivable, and payroll activities to maintain accuracy and timeliness. During all your activities, you'll keep an open mind to areas for growth and ways to improve internal controls. You'll update and maintain product and labor costs to support financial health, perform inventory valuation and reconciliation, and inform leadership about variances and their main drivers. Working with the operations team, you'll review bills of materials and make sure records match actual production. You'll support leadership in making data-driven business decisions by delivering reports and analyses on areas like pricing, scrap, waste, and efficiency. Additional responsibilities include assisting with budgeting efforts, sales tax filings, other compliance requirements, and more.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on cost accounting experience
• Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
• Experience working directly with operations, production, or supply chain teams
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close procedures
• Proficiency with ERP or accounting systems (such as NetSuite, Sage, or QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills
• Ability to learn and adapt to a new environment quickly
• Ability to work around general manufacturing conditions with exposure to temperature changes, noise, and moving machinery
• Ability to follow all food safety and quality assurance procedures

The ideal Senior Accountant has a CPA or CMA, or is currently working towards one. Experience in a food manufacturing environment or in a supervisory position leading teams and inventory audits would be valuable.
