Responsibilities

• Prepare and record recurring journal entries for accruals and month-end close.
• Manage accounting for employee compensation, payroll taxes, bonuses, and benefits.
• Review payroll data, investigate variances, and reflect payroll costs in GL.
• Support corporate insurance accounting, reserves, and claims activity.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules.
• Analyze account activity for discrepancies and trends.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Legal, and other groups for reporting.
• Assist internal and external audits with documentation.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Utilize close-management tools and recommend process improvements.
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses.

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This role is perfect for an accounting professional who enjoys working across multiple areas of accounting, partnering with cross-functional teams, and contributing to a smooth and accurate financial close process. The engagement starts this month and will last until January 30, 2027.

In this position, you'll play a key role in month-end close, payroll accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, audit support, and financial compliance initiatives while helping improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and record recurring journal entries related to accruals, prepaid expenses, and other month-end close activities
• Manage accounting for employee compensation, payroll taxes, bonuses, benefits, and other payroll-related transactions
• Review payroll-related financial data, investigate variances, and ensure payroll costs are accurately reflected in the general ledger
• Support accounting for corporate insurance programs, including reserves, premium allocations, and claims-related activity
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain detailed supporting schedules
• Analyze account activity and identify discrepancies, trends, or unusual fluctuations
• Partner with Human Resources, Payroll, Legal, and other business groups to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and account support
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Utilize reconciliation and close-management tools to maintain accurate financial records
• Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and support accounting best practices
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Working knowledge of payroll accounting and accruals
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

$59.23 to $66.47 per hour

This role is on site with a hybrid schedule. You must be able to report to work for this contract role in Emeryville, CA.
