Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a small, start-up environment company to hire a hands-on Senior Accountant in New York. The role focuses on owning the month-end close and building scalable accounting processes as the organization grows.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of accounting experience, strong balance sheet reconciliation, NetSuite proficiency, and a solid grasp of U.S. GAAP. CPA track or public accounting background is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience with ownership of month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience, including bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills and an interest in leveraging automation and AI tools to improve efficiency.
• CPA designation, CPA track, public accounting, or audit experience is a plus.
• Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a growing environment where processes continue to evolve.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Prepare journal entries, including payroll, accruals, prepaids, allocations, and other accounting adjustments
• Maintain prepaid, accrual, fixed asset, and other supporting schedules
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor payments, expense reporting, collections, and cash management
• Review revenue and billing schedules to ensure accurate invoicing and compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition requirements
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts while investigating and resolving discrepancies
• Oversee vendor onboarding, payment approvals, and related accounting processes
• Assist with ERP reporting, financial analysis, and budget-to-actual reporting
• Support audits, tax filings, process improvements, and internal controls initiatives
