Confidential – Senior Accountant (local Candidates only)
The Opportunity: Our client, a growing and established organization in the Dallas–Fort Worth market, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its finance and accounting team. This is a highly visible, hands-on accounting role with responsibility for financial reporting, general ledger accounting, multi-entity reporting, financial analysis, forecasting, and process improvement.
The Senior Accountant will play an important role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the company's financial information while providing meaningful financial insights to leadership.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting capabilities with analytical thinking and the ability to look beyond the numbers. This individual will take ownership of key accounting processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and work collaboratively across the organization.
While this position does not have direct reports, the Senior Accountant will serve as an experienced resource within the department and may review the work of junior accounting professionals and assist in their development.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are properly recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Prepare revenue and cost-of-sales reporting across multiple entities.
- Develop meaningful financial narratives explaining significant trends and variances.
- Perform complex general ledger reconciliations and ensure subsidiary ledgers reconcile accurately to the general ledger.
- Manage and analyze Capital Expenditure reporting.
- Prepare and analyze Operating Expense reporting.
- Support rebate accounting, including appropriate recognition and allocation of revenue and expenses.
- Support multi-entity accounting, reporting, and consolidation activities.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Financial Analysis & Forecasting
- Analyze revenue, costs, financial commitments, and operating expenses to identify trends and potential financial impacts.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Monitor entity-level revenue and expense trends and identify potential areas of concern or opportunity.
- Assist management in understanding the financial impact of operational and business decisions.
- Provide proactive analysis rather than simply reporting historical financial results.
Controls, Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure accounting activities comply with U.S. GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements.
- Support the development and maintenance of effective internal financial controls.
- Assist with external financial statement audits.
- Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation requested by auditors.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and complex financial reporting matters.
Process Improvement & Team Support
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and workflows.
- Help optimize multi-entity reporting, rebate processing, cost allocations, and reconciliation procedures.
- Participate in accounting system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process optimization projects.
- Review reconciliations and financial reports prepared by junior accounting professionals as needed.
- Assist in training and developing junior accounting team members.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and management teams to resolve financial discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy.
Special Projects
- Participate in accounting and finance projects, including system optimization, reporting enhancements, and process automation.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requested by management.
- Take ownership of designated accounting processes and improvement initiatives.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience preparing and analyzing P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Strong general ledger and account reconciliation experience.
- Experience with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Experience with variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Exposure to multi-entity accounting, reporting, or financial consolidation.
- Experience working with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, particularly when working with complex financial data.
- Ability to independently manage responsibilities and consistently meet reporting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial results and variances clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification.
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an MBA.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience within a growing, multi-entity, or complex operating environment.
- Experience supporting external financial statement audits.
- Experience with ERP systems, system implementations, or accounting process automation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, including PivotTables, lookups, and complex financial analysis.
- Experience improving multi-entity reporting, rebate accounting, cost allocation, or related accounting processes.
- Experience with financial reporting or business intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
