LHH is seeking a Senior Accountant with construction industry expertise to join our growing finance team in the Montgomery County area. This role leads month-end close, financial reporting, job costing, and variance analysis while partnering with project managers and operations leaders to improve business performance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in progressive accounting, strong Excel and ERP skills, and experience supporting audits and multi-entity projects.

Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a background in the construction industry to join a growing finance team. This role will lead month-end close activities, financial reporting, job cost analysis, and variance reporting while partnering with operational leaders to support project and business performance. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with construction accounting expertise and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Analyze financial results, project performance, and variances against budget and forecast.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Partner with project managers and operational leaders to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
• Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requirements.
• Assist with corporate reporting, consolidations, and intercompany transactions.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance controls, and increase reporting efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including construction industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience with job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project financial analysis.
• Experience supporting audits, month-end close, and variance analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Experience in multi-entity or project-based organizations.
• CPA or CPA-track a plus.
• Experience improving accounting processes and reporting automation.
