About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join a growing organization within the construction industry. This role will play a critical part in supporting daily accounting operations with a strong emphasis on job cost accounting, project profitability, financial reporting, and operational support.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, experience working in fast‑paced environments, and hands‑on exposure to construction accounting processes. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with leadership teams and contribute to the financial success and growth of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support day‑to‑day accounting operations and financial activities.
  • Perform job cost accounting and monitor project budgets and profitability.
  • Analyze project costs and assist with cost tracking and reporting.
  • Process and reconcile payroll‑related entries, benefits, and liabilities.
  • Calculate, reconcile, and maintain commission reporting records.
  • Assist with revenue recognition and cost of goods sold (COGS) tracking.
  • Prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations accurately and timely.
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close activities.
  • Prepare and assist with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Partner with operations and leadership teams to support business objectives and financial planning.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
  • 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Experience with job‑cost accounting and project‑based financial tracking.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • High attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience within the construction industry strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of WIP (Work‑in‑Progress) accounting, overbilling, and underbilling schedules.
  • Experience using accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Gusto, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with construction financial workflows and project lifecycle reporting.
